Do you have a warrant out for your arrest for failing to appear in court or for accumulating too many unpaid traffic tickets? If you suspect that you do, you can easily find out if a warrant has been issued by calling a court number found online or by contacting one of our lawyers at WeFixTicket. If you fail to pay a traffic ticket that is an infraction, no warrant will be issued but you do face problems with the DMV when your license or registration come up for renewal. But if the ticket was for a misdemeanor traffic matter, then an arrest warrant will be issued for your failure to appear in court.

Misdemeanor traffic tickets include:
- Driving on a suspended license
- Speeding over a certain limit
- Driving with no insurance
- Leaving the scene of an accident
- Failure to provide insurance, registration and license information following an accident
- Driving the wrong way on a divided highway
- Reckless driving
- Racing on a public highway
Some of these violations are also “wobblers,” meaning that the prosecutor can charge you with a felony if the facts of your violation are egregious enough. If you have multiple violations or you are charged with causing a serious injury or a fatality and alcohol or other factors were present, then the law may mandate that you be charged with a felony.
Penalties for Failure to Appear
A failure to appear on a misdemeanor traffic ticket can also be charged as another misdemeanor, meaning you face up to 6 months in jail and a fine up to $1,000. This is in addition to the matter for which you failed to appear. If it was for a felony matter, the prosecutor could charge you with a felony and a minimum fine of $5000 that can go up to $10,000 if you had posted bail. In addition, the court could order that you turn in your driver’s license.
Reasons for Not Appearing
There are many valid reasons for not appearing in court that a local, highly experienced lawyer from WeFixTicket can present to the court so that the warrant can be quashed and no further charges filed against you. Employment, lack of transportation, illness or injury, failure to receive notice of a scheduled court appearance or other circumstances often cause our clients to miss a court appearance.
